Why Work from Home? Lots of Reasons
Working from home is a viable choice for many people these days. It makes more sense for those with young children to work around a schedule that minimizes daycare costs. It makes sense to trade a 30 minute (or more) commute for a 30 second one. It makes sense to be able to work at the time of day that is naturally more productive for you (we're not all early birds). I traded my 9-5 job for a home office three years ago and I've never looked back. If I wake up feeling a little under the weather, I work sporadically through the day until I feel better. I'm home when my children leave for school and home when they return. Weekends are much more enjoyable now because they aren't a hectic mess of trying to squeeze in some quality time with my family between loads of laundry and household chores. I don't dread Mondays, I don't dread any days. I made the leap and I want to help you do it too.
Is Working From Home for You?
If you can do what needs to be done without someone looking over your shoulder or micro-managing you, you can do this too. It doesn't take any special skills or education. I have a business that pays me today, next month, next year and the years after that for the work I do once. I learned the hard way how important this is. I had a thriving marketing and freelance writing business that did very well until I took some time away for a once-in-a -lifetime opportunity (to live in Costa Rica for a year). I noticed immediately that the minute I stopped writing, the checks stopped coming in. The work I loved had become a task-master that refused to let me do anything else. I decided then that I would create a source of income that I could put on "autopilot" when I need to. I don't mind working hard to create something; but I refuse to work hard to create something that enslaves me.
